I won’t dive into the specific trade… but after a lot of reflection i realized I went against a trading plan I had. However, I hadn’t even realized it until this week. In late October this plan was “set in stone”. Come late February I realized I botched it. Why?
My most likely reason is twofold. One, I didn’t write it down. I didn’t engrain it the way I should have. I needed to set it deeper into my soul as to not let it fall into the shadows when the volume of markets turned up. But as the noise grew louder I lost it.
Two, I was living between my old self, the fox, and my newer goals/alignment… the bull. Here’s a quick recap of the difference between the two profiles:
🦊 Fox vs. 🐂 Bull: Key Differences & Overlaps
Both Foxes and Bulls seek high-growth opportunities, but their approach and execution styles are fundamentally different.
Bulls thrive on conviction-based investing—they bet big on narratives they believe in, holding through volatility with strong risk tolerance and long-term upside in mind.
Foxes, on the other hand, are tactical traders—they move quickly, pivot between narratives, and exploit short-term inefficiencies rather than committing to long-term positions.
🔹 Bulls maximize upside by staying in strong trends, even through drawdowns.
🔹 Foxes capitalize on volatility, entering and exiting before the crowd catches on.
🔹 Bulls manage risk through conviction & portfolio balance, while Foxes manage risk through agility & execution precision.
🚀 Both profiles can be profitable, but their success depends on discipline—Bulls must manage risk without overcommitting, and Foxes must execute without overtrading.
So…
I let the fox in me win. I flip flopped and played within the current narratives and regime while ignoring my longer term, high conviction plan (bull) that I had drawn up.
I am still learning how to approach the shift of my execution and thought patterns. It will take time. A metamorphosis if you will. Learning and adapting as always while, you know it, keeping the seat at the table!
